Random Blog: Diwali Delights - The dishes made during Diwali

Image
W ho doesn't know about the 'Diwali' festival in India? As an Indian, I am truly proud that we celebrate such a joyful, light-filled, sparkling, and happiness-filled festival once every year. However, Diwali isn't just about the diyas (earthen lamps) and crackers; it is also renowned for its delicious sweets and snacks. Let me share some of the foods that we prepare in our homes for this festive occasion. 1. Murukku: Murukku is a popular South Indian snack that is made during Diwali. It is a crunchy, savory snack made from rice flour and urad dal flour, seasoned with sesame seeds and with a hint of asafoetida (hing). The dough is typically shaped into spiral or coil patterns using a special press or mold (Murukku Kuzhai), and then deep-fried until crispy.  2. Adhirasam: Adhirasam is a deep-fried sweet snack made from a mixture of rice flour, jaggery, and a hint of cardamom powder. The dough is shaped into discs and then fried in oil or ghee until they become golden br...

Book Review: Summer of 93 by Archana Somvanshi

Image
'Summer of 93' written by Archana Somvanshi is a book having a nostalgic title, the cover image compliments both the title and the story presented in it. The main reason for me choosing this book is its emotional blurb and the title. We all used to feel something was missing in today's life despite having everything, that 'something' is a 'nostalgic life' and through this book, it is been fulfilled. This book has many characters and each plays a vital role in this story. Though,  the story is about the siblings named Anju, Mantu, and Bunty. Along with the trio Saraswati, Janki Devi, Kashinath, etc. also play a major role in the plot. The trio of siblings arrives at their ancestral village to meet people and learn about the family's past which happened in the 1970s. There, they meet Kashinath who has a deep impact on the happenings in 1976. The more they know about their family's past, the more trouble arrives to them. Despite of that how did they ove...

Book review: Thorn of Secrets by B. Truly

Image
Title of the Book: Thorn of Secrets Author: B. Truly Narrated by: Miranda Sprague and Jamiel Cal-Pin Format: Audiobook Audiobooks have become my new favorite in recent days and the first ever audiobook I tried was the previous parts of this 'My Darkest Secret series'. The reason I chose this book was I felt like I wanted to try some romantic and emotional story narrated by other voices, when we read the book the reading voice will be ours but when we listen in audio format the experience is totally new and it was really worth it. The story of this second part also starts with Madison's life from where she was left. After the heart-throbbing event that happened in her life, she now tried so hard and moved on. Now she and Justin are getting a moment on their relationship and trying hard to get closer to each other irrespective of their situations. But her life again intervenes some pains and surprises also some secrets. This book can be tagged under the thriller genre. I coul...

Book review : Roar of the Dark

Image
R oar of the Dark written by Aastha Rathod Naad. This book will come under the women's fiction kind of genre. The title of the book is simple and suitable for the story. Just like the cover image of the book, the story too has a darkness in it and I like this symbolization of choosing this cover image for this great story. I am someone who likes to read women's literature or women-centric stories, but these days those types of stories are very low in numbers. Once I read the blurb I got to know that the main characters in this story were women so it will be a women-centric story and that one reason is more than enough for me to choose this book. First thing first I would like to appreciate the author for taking such a bold theme and narrated it beautifully in this book. I heartily appreciate her efforts. Once I opened I book I saw chapter one titled 'Judgement Day' and that intimated to me that this book is gonna be an absolute rollercoaster read. The main characters of...

Book Review: All He Left Me Was a Recipe by Shenaz Treasury (This review is powered by Blogchatter Book Review Program)

Image
All He Left Me Was a Recipe written by Shenaz Treasury. This book can be tagged as a fiction and non-fiction mixed genre.  The title of the book is fair enough for me to choose this book and give it a try.  Also, I love the cover image because it has the author's image surrounded by the healing hearts which makes a lot of sense and reciprocates well with the book's inner content. Let us be honest to ourselves and reply to this question How was your break-up(s)? How did you cope with your break-up(s)? No, don't say ' I am so busy in my life no time for love' , ' I am very busy focussing on studying' , ' I am very career oriented' etc. Let us be frank, Almost everyone must have/will have love in their life, some might express it and some might not. If your honest answer to my above question is " YES"  then this book is for you and you will love this book. This is such a realistic and reality-filled book and right from the introduction part I...
