A Lot Like Love & Other Short Stories by Nidra Naik

A Lot Like Love & Other Short Stories written by Nidra Naik. I like to read short stories as they are very easy to read.

The cover of the book looks so calm and sweet and its an additional point for the purchase. This book really amplifies the title very much.

This book has a collection of six short stories in the total. These are not very short or mini stories, each story has different page count as some ends in ten pages and some for fifty plus pages too. The stories are covered by multiple emotions and also it speaks about different love like love life, love for a carrier, mom's love etc. So we cannot stamp one particular genre for this book.

The language is very simple and easy to read also the narration too very good. One thing which I like and noted in this book is the titles of each story is well suitable for its content. Also, each story is in different size as per its content. I did not felt any stories rushed up or unfinished. All the stories are travelling well right from the beginning to its end. These things make it easy for us to read.

About the story:

1) A Lot Like Love
This is the love story based on the two people  Nihar and Mandar. They both were in deep and intense love, but the game of fate split them and they meet back after a few years and then the story moves on.
This is the very different and also the heart melting love story, this story may look a little familiar but absolutely presented well.

2) Second Chance
As the title says this is about the second chance in a relationship, This story is about Tanmay and Jewel which we all can surely relate in many of our life.

3) The Bestseller
This book is about Purnendu and he was writing the book called The Divided path and he wanted to be the best selling author. This one has the slow and awesome word choices

4) The Visit
This story is about the girl called Nilu and she was most attached to her grandmother whom she calls as Bou (meaning mother in Oriya). She wanted to own a palaka (bed) like the one which her grandmom used to have in the pure teak wood with the beautiful antique design.

5) The Black Idol
This is the story about the authentic Odiya family.

6) What Was Not Said
This is the story about the Sushanta a ninteen year old boy who was unable to accept the Pallavi as his stepmother who is as close to the age of Sushanta and how he accepts her as the stepmother is the way the story moves. This is the shortest story of all.

This book just not only say about the story along with that it says about the culture an Odissi culture to be more specific in details. Out of all, I like the story Visit more. I do recommend this book for sure.
