The amazing waterfalls of Tamil Nadu 'Courtallam"

People always love to connect themselves with nature and yearly they would go for a vacation. Most of the places they choose for their vacation stay would be nature-filled or Nature sourrounded places. Let me introduce you all to this amazing waterfalls Courtallam which is located in Tamil Nadu, through this blog.

When I was little for an annual exam vacation my dad always took me to our ancestor's place which is known as Shivakasi and near our ancestor's city there is this beautiful town called Tenkasi. This town holds so much beauty and nature on its border, one such beauty is the Courtallam waterfalls.

Courtallam Falls is not just a single waterfalls it has a total number of nine waterfalls in it namely Old Falls, Main Falls, Five Falls, Tiger Falls, Shenbagadevi Falls, Honey Falls, Fruit Garden Falls/VIP Falls/ Orchard Falls  (Pazhathotta Aruvi), Small Falls  (Chitraruvi), and Palaruvi Falls or Milk Falls.

Main Falls:

As the name suggests this is the mail falls out of all easy to access from the Bus Stand or by your own vehicle. Entry for this Fall is free.

Old Falls:

This is not named Old  Falls because it was the oldest, this was named because previously this was the main falls but due to its heavy water flow during the monsoon season bathing will be banned for months. For the tourist's sake, they made the Main Falls a priority fall. But this old falls was magical and beautiful.

Even a patient who has mental problems once cured close to 70 to 80% in the hospital, They will bring them here and make them take a bath because the water there comes from the mountains filled with herbs and they believe that it will cure their issues. In my experience, dark marks on the face will reduce noticeably with just one long bath in this waterfalls.

There is no entry fee needed for this waterfalls

Five Falls:

Just as the name suggests this falls has five-way water flowing and out of it 3 for men and 2 for women. The entry is free for this falls as well.

Tiger Falls:

This is a private falls and they will charge a small amount for the public to take a bath in this falls. This is a short waterfalls not as big as Main Falls, or not as huge as Old Falls. This waterfalls was named as such because this is where the tiger will come to quench its thirst.

This is the Picture of a small canal from Tiger Falls

Shenbagadevi Falls:

This is a beautiful waterfalls that can be seen only after trekking for an hour as this waterfalls is located in the middle of the hills. You can find the Shenbagadevi temple and flowers near this waterfalls and thus this falls is named as such.

Honey Falls:

This one is located on top of the Shenbagadevi Falls and for sure you need to reach there by trekking. In this fall bathing is not allowed as it is very dangerous. This falls was named as such because you can find more honeycomb near this falls.

Fruit Garden Falls/VIP Falls/ (Pazhathotta Aruvi):

As the name suggests this waterfalls is only for the VIPs and not allowed for the normal public. If you want to go there you need to follow more procedures and get some approval letters from govt officials. This falls was situated inbetween the forest and surrounded by Fruit Garden and flowers. The falls will be small and apt and perfect for bathing and relaxing.

Small Falls  (Chitraruvi):

This is a small waterfalls, as the name suggests this falls will be suitable for the kids.

Palaruvi Falls or Milk Falls:

This fall falls from Kerala to Tamil Nadu, but people will visit this falls more in Kerala.

Other Information:

1. There will be separate areas for Men and Women to bathe.

2. No bathing in falls is allowed after 5.00 or 5.30 for safety.

3. There is a separate dress changing and bathrooms are available. Most of them are paid but they are neat and clean.
