The Game of Choices: Khaayega Ya Lagayega? written by Anish Kumar. This book falls under the fiction genre and features a thriller narrative.
The cover image is sufficient for us to explain the content or main theme of the book. The cover image will be liked more by the avid cricket lovers, I guess, but for the book lovers, it is just an average kind of cover image.
Before diving into the in-depth review of this book, let me clarify: I enjoy cricket and watch it on TV occasionally now, but I was a dedicated follower when I was a teenager. Therefore, my review reflects my current perspective, so please keep that in mind.
The main protagonist of this book is Sunny. The entire story revolves around him, set between the years 2007 and 2011—the years when India won the T20 World Cup and the Men's World Cup, respectively. This story is not about the cricket matches or how they were played; rather, the core of the plot focuses on cricket betting. It explores how Sunny's passion for cricket turned into a venture in betting, along with the twists and turns of his life that unfold throughout the story.
This story centers on cricket betting as its plot, with a thrilling genre twist. When I picked up this book, I didn't expect so much excitement in the story. After a few chapters, it became an absolute page-turner. Even after reading just a couple of pages, it’s clear that the book is written by someone with a deep passion for cricket, which shines through in every chapter. I love the character descriptions presented at the beginning of the story; that image would have made a perfect cover. The narration is smooth and easy to read. If you’re a fan of the thriller genre, you will enjoy this book, as it features many unpredictable twists and turns with gripping narration.
