List of my comfort foods
Comfort foods are familiar dishes that make us feel cozy and happy. They're often simple and remind us of home or good times. These foods can range from soups, and rice to simple snacks. It is the food that will give us satisfaction the moment we eat or just see that on our plate.
Here is the list of my comfort foods
1. Fermented Rice (Pazhaya Kanji):
Fermented rice is a simple recipe and it can be made simply just with the leftover rice of the day. The preparation method is so simple, just put the leftover rice in a pot or vessel immerse it in normal-temperature water, and cover the vessel. Let it sit untouched for the whole night and the next day it will be turned into a savory taste and smell, which had been transformed by tiny organisms like bacteria or yeast.
I love to eat this rice along with it water once a week to cool my body, and it goes well with the pickle of spicy masal vada.'
2. Rasam Sadam or Rasam Rice:
Rasam Sadam is made by combining boiled rice with rasam, a tangy and spicy soup-like dish made with tamarind, tomatoes, Cumin, Pepper, Asofoedita, garlic, etc. It has a comforting and spicy taste that's often enjoyed with papad. Whenever I feel sick both internally and externally, I will always opt for hot Rasam Sadam to get that comfort feeling.
3. Sathu Maavu Kanji:
Sathu Maavu Kanji is a Porridge, which was made by a powdered mixture of the the healthy millets combo. Finger millet, Pearl Millet, Red Rice, Jowar, Green Gram, corn peanuts, almonds, and cashews are the main ingredients of this Porridge powder.
To prepare this, add the Porridge powder to a glass of milk or water and cook it until it reaches a thick consistency and shiny texture. It was often sweetened with jaggery or sugar, but you also add salt for a different taste. I like both sweet and salt. After a high fever, I love to have it to get my energy back.
4. Mangai Pachadi:
Mangai Pachadi is a special dish especially since it was famous among households in Tamil Nadu. It is made using raw mangoes cooked with jaggery, red chili powder, and salt, and seasoned with mustard seeds. This has the mixed taste of sweet, salt, savory, and spicy. The consistency of this will be like a Jam and it goes well with the curd rice or you can eat it as it is as a dessert. Whenever I feel down, I will prepare and have it to boost my energy back.
The list will keep on going on. Don't forget to share your comfort food in the comment section. I am waiting.......
