Scarred Roses - RakShak Series Book 1: Teenaged Detective Duo Rak-Shak are up against a Spine Chilling Mystery by Preeti Nair - Nayak.

Scarred Roses - RakShak Series Book 1: Teenaged Detective Duo Rak-Shak are up against a Spine Chilling Mystery written by Preeti Nair - Nayak. This book will come under the mystery genre.

The book has a long name which can be a little short according to me. The cover image of the book perfectly matching to its genre.

The main protagonists of the story are Raksha and Shakti along with them few other important characters such as Paswan Gulab Rai, Ajay, and Kabir too played dominant characters in this story. The story is happening in the place Jodhpur which is one of my favorite places in India and it adds more interest to me to read this book. The story starts with Paswan Gulab Rai who died long back but still people didn't have good deeds on her. Then Raksha and Shakti arrive in Jodhpur in order to research something as per their mother's will but when they landed, the whole place was terrified due to the serial murders and people were saying it was Paswan's ghost who is killing. But this duo senses something else, what will happen next to know more do read this book.

After a very long time, I was satisfied reading this amazing mystery book. This book has the perfect mystery essence I need. The way the duo found the happenings and the clues were so nail-biting.  Raksha and Shakti both have different characters in general and that difference perfectly matches and well going with this story. Though the book has two different timelines I did not get any confusion while reading the story, this book can't be read so fast to understand the real essence we need to read it slower. The language is good and moderately easy to read. This is the best treat for murder and mystery lovers.

Blurb

The sweet fragrance of roses. The dark shadow of death.

Teenage sisters Raksha and Shakti (Rak-Shak) arrive at the historical city of Jodhpur with their aunt and foster grandfather to receive their late mother’s bequeathment. But the timing of their visit couldn’t have been worse as the city is grappling with a spate of serial murders where the killer leaves behind mutilated roses around the victims. The ghost of a formidable and wronged concubine who lived more than two centuries ago is rumoured to be the perpetrator of the murders and the rumours are further given wind by reports of spectral sightings, along with an inexplicable fragrance of roses and the humming of an old classical song.
Raksha and Shakti receive their mother’s journal and its contents set them upon a trail that leads them to explosive secrets that were buried centuries ago. They lose their grandfather to the diabolical killer and with their own lives and the life of their beloved aunt at stake; the girls will have to unravel the mystery page-by-page, going back in time while racing against it.
In the backdrop of the old city of Jodhpur with its rich history, stepped-wells, grand palaces, and hidden passages, and with nothing but their mother’s journal and their own wit to rely upon, will Rak-Shak be able to battle their own demons and save their family and the entire city from the clutches of this terrifying killer or will they end up with scarred roses of their own?
