Book Review: Not Indian Enough by Sumati Huber

Not Indian Enough written by Sumati Huber. This book falls under the contemprory fiction genre.

After a long gap, I decided to try a book from the women's fiction genre. I saw the book cover, read the blurb, and felt it would be the perfect cozy read for the winter season, so I picked it up.

The main protagonist of this story is Sanjana, and the book shares her journey through life, as we can see in the blurb. The cover image of the book is a perfect representation and matches the main characters and the core of the story.

This book provides a contemporary women's fiction story with a humorous touch. Every small detail of the problems faced by modern Indian girls is discussed in this book, from their dress codes to how they are expected to behave within their families, especially in front of their parents. More than just a story, this book shares real-life experiences of Indian women—particularly the challenges they face when striving to be independent and modern, while also trying to satisfy the expectations of their traditional families. Most of the scenarios mentioned in this book are highly relatable, and many women can compare and relate to Sanjana's life.

This is a short book with just one hundred and twenty pages, and the narration is simple and easy to follow, allowing us to complete it in a maximum of two days. The word choices and vocabulary are also straightforward, so even a beginner can enjoy reading this book. The language used in this book is simple and humor-filled, giving me the feeling that I was chatting with a friend, and discussing serious real-life problems in a funny way.
